Prepositions + objects explained:

But first what is an object?

Over me
over = preposition
me = object

Objects are the receiver.

He prefers her over me.

He
= subject
her = object
me = object

Ask "who" = subject
Ask "whom" or "what" = object


In Arabic the object is attached to the preposition.

In English the
object is a separate word.

over me = foo’i = فَوْقي


Example #1:

Over me =  foo’i

Preposition + Object



 فَوْقي

 فوقي

foo’ = over (preposition)
 
i = me (object)

 

Example #2:

I am beside you = ana gambak
 

Preposition + Object



أنا جانِبُكَ 

أنا جَنْبَـك 

gamb = beside (preposition)

ak = you = (object)

 

 

 

  What is an object?

When searching for an object in a sentence ask the question “whom” or “what.”
